School Council

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. Membership of School Council is rewarding and ensures students and parents contribute to, and have a close understanding of, the direction and strategic planning of the school.

Three separate electorates operate – one for the election of parent members, one for the election of student members, and one for the election of DE (Department of Education) employee members.

Any parent of a child enrolled at Kyneton High School is eligible to stand for election as a parent member of Council (as long as the parent is not employed by DE at Kyneton High School).

Each member of council serves for a two-year term before being eligible for re-election.

Profile : Joanne Murray

My name is Joanne Murray and I have lived in Kyneton since 2014. I have twin boys attending KHS. I have joined council as a staff representative this year; but I am also a parent and community member. I teach junior and middle years Maths along with Fashion and Design, and Year 12 Numeracy.

Although I began my teaching career some time ago, I returned to the profession eight years ago after gaining diverse experience in hospitality, retail, and rail construction industries.

I joined the Council to support our school’s continued success and to foster a positive community image which reflects the excellence and enjoyment I see every day.

I am constantly inspired by my colleagues’ dedication and the creative, ‘above and beyond’ ways they bring the curriculum to life for our students.
